ASUU vs FG : National Industrial Court adjourns Case

ASUU Vs FG faceoff as regards the strike has taken another turn as The National Industrial Court once again adjourned the suit filed by the Federal Government, challenging the ongoing strike by the university lecturers to September 19.

Earlier the court had called out the FG and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to appear before it on Monday in Abuja over the seven-month-old strike.‎(opens in a new tab)

But Justice Polycap Hamman  at the first hearing, moved further hearing on the ongoing strike issue  till Friday, September 16 (today), to enable both parties to file the necessary papers for the suit.

James Igwe the legal counsel to the FG,, earlier pleaded with the court to give the ongoing case an accelerated hearing due to the urgency of the matter to enable the students to return to school.

Igwe also told the court that since the matter was already being handled legally, it would be a wise move for the strike to be called off, pending the determination of the suit.
