The UK government has begun accepting applications for its 2025 seasonal worker visa.
Nigerians and other foreign nationals who are seeking short-term employment in the horticulture and poultry sector are invited to apply.
Those who succeed can anticipate visa approvals within three weeks, provided allrequirements are satisfied.
The United Kingdom government has announced that the 2025 visa program willmake available 2,000 for poultry jobs and 43,000 visas for horticulture .
This seasonal worker visa initiative was extended in May 2024, allowing it to run for an additional five years until 2029.
The Government commented:
‘The extended visa scheme allows businesses to strategize effectively, invest in automation, and gradually reduce their reliance on seasonal migrant labor.’

How the visa operates
According to the government website, foreign workers eligible for the Seasonal Worker visa can apply for horticulture jobs throughout the year, whereas poultry sector applications close every year on November 15.
Horticulture visa holders may work in the UK for up to six months, undertaking taskssuch as harvesting fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Conversely, poultry workers are authorized to work between October 2 andDecember 31 to cater to peak seasonal demands.
Applicants must obtain sponsorship from a UK employer and meet additional eligibility criteria.
