Youths Rejects Plans To Introduce Sharia Law in the South-West

A collective identified as Yoruba Nation Youths has dismissed the intentions to implement Sharia law or establish Sharia courts in the South-West region.

In a declaration from its leaders in the diaspora and at home, Messrs Ayodele Ologunloluwa and Oyegunle Omotoyole stated that they stand ready to protect their ancestral territory against any efforts to enforce Sharia law.

This announcement follows news that the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (Oyo State Division) has slated January 11, 2025, for the founding of a Sharia court in Oyo town.

According to reports, the occasion will be held at the Muslim Community Islamic Centre, Oba Adeyemi High School Road, Mobolaje area, Agbogangan, Oyo.

In response to the situation, the youth characterized the proposal as “ridiculous” and pledged to organize resistance movements should the plan continue.
