#asuustrike : FG willing to Reach an Agreement – says Adamu Adamu

#asuustrike which is ongoing has finally received the attention of the Federal government as they have expressed willingness to Reach an Agreement again.

According to  Adamu Adamu – Minister of Education while Speaking to statehouse correspondents after the FEC meeting Yesterday February 16, said he was surprised that the lecturers could decide to embark on their planned industrial strike action when the Federal Government was already addressing the issues they presented.

Adamu Adamu also reacted to several accusations by ASUU, including claims that he has repeatedly ignored the negotiation meetings but sends representatives. Denying the accusations, Adamu said he has been the one making the first call for dialogue meetings to be held and has equally been in attendance, except within a given period when he was away for medical treatment in Germany.


Responding to questions bothering on Whether the government would reach an agreement with ASUU before the end of the 30-day strike, the minister said he doesn’t know as he is not the only person to make the decision.

Professor Emmanuel Osodeke ASUU President, had on Monday declared a one-month warning strike, with lecturers blamed their decision on the government’s lack of ability to implement the Memorandum of Action it signed with them in December 2020.
