Minna to Bida Road sudden Collapse reportedly left Hundreds of passengers and scores of vehicles stranded on Monday.
According to reports, a portion of the road in Niger state collapsed, and this left Motorists in a chaotic state as crossing from Kakapangi to Minna or vice versa became a herculean task.
Some of the private and commercial vehicles owners using the road either returned to Bida or Minna, while those coming from the Bida end had been forced to follow the longer route from Lemu to Zungeru and down to Minna. And also vehicles from Minna end, were prompted to reverse and follow the longer route of Minna- Lapai -Agaie – Bida road.
Most importantly, those caught in the web of the dilemma were those who were travelling to Bida to celebrate with the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, on his 70th birthday and 19th year of ascending the throne of his forbears.
The Niger Government on Sept. 18, 2018 was said to have awarded a contract for the dualisation of the 84kms Minna – Bida road to an indigenous construction firm, Dantata and Sawoe.
The collapse of the road which is not new to the Locals , was attributed to heavy downpour that occurred last week.
