NCDC : Dr. Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa has been appointed as the new Director-General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Garba Shehu the Special Assistant on Media & Publicity, confirmed the appointment in a news brief on Monday. According to Shehu , Adetifa will take over from Chikwe Ihekweazu, who has been given an appointment at the World Health Organisation (WHO) as earlier reported by bluebloodz.com [ Read Here ]
NCDC Former DG Ihekweazu had been in office since 2016 , until last week when WHO appointed him as an assistant Director-General.
WHO Director-General, Tedros Ghebreyesus, In an official letter addressed to Ihekweazu, said he is the deputy in charge of health emergency intelligence at the global health organisation. He is to resume office on November 1, 2021, and will be solely in charge of WHO’s pandemic and epidemic response hub in Berlin, Germany.
