Queen Elizabeth II has officially been removed as the head of state in Barbados paving way for the country to begin its journey as a Republic.
The handing over event which took place for an entire night in the capital of Bridgetown saw the swearing in of its female president Dame Sandra Mason in line with the country’s 55th Independence Anniversary.
The ceremony ws well attended by Prince Charles who represented the Queen, and Singer Rihanna.
Prince Charles quoted verbatim the Queen’s speech – in the speech, the Queen congratulated the country, wished peace , prosperity and assured them of continued support in business and otherwise irrespective of their newly attained status.
