SELFIE now used for CANCER DIAGNOSIS

Researchers at the University of Washington have developed an app that could diagnose pancreatic cancer from a potrait shot of the user.

The app known as Billiscreen works by analyzing the amount of yellow discoloration that is in the whites of the eye ( case of jaundice ) before its detectable to the normal eyes.

Pancreatic cancer typically has a 5 year survival rate of just 9% because its often undetectable until it gets to an advanced stage.

Alex Mariakakis Lead author of the paper detailing the app said ” There is hope if people can do the simple selfie test once a month, in the privacy of their own home, some might detect the disease early enough to undergoe treatment that could save their life ” .
NOTE : Jaundice is a tell – tale sign of pancreatic cancer.
