President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed the Justice Ministry to collaborate with the National Assembly to tackle issues surrounding the tax reform proposals.
This initiative seeks to ensure that all valid concerns are considered before the proposals receive approval. The Presidency has stated that the vigorous nationwide discussion regarding the new tax reform proposals is appreciated and commendable, highlighting the core principles of democracy.
The Presidency underscored that President Tinubu will consistently act in favor of the Nigerian populace. The fiscal reforms, which encompass four tax proposals, aim to alleviate the burden on millions of diligent Nigerians throughout the nation. They are also intended to empower and prepare states and local governments for sustainable development and progress.
The administration has assured that the tax reform proposals will not disadvantage any state or region within the country. Rather, they will promote increased revenues without adding extra tax burdens on citizens. The reforms will also enable citizens to demand and experience greater transparency in the management of public funds at all governmental tiers.
A statement from the Ministry of Information indicated that President Tinubu is executing an ambitious fiscal reform plan that will allocate more resources to Nigeria’s state and local governments, ultimately benefiting the Nigerian citizenry.
The administration has no hidden agenda to justify claims that the process is being expedited. In accordance with established legislative protocols, the Federal Government encourages constructive contributions to clarify any ambiguities within the proposals.
