Elkanemi College of Islamic Theology senior student in Borno state, has slit the throat of an 11-year-old junior student of the Islamic theology college, Jubril Mato for refusing to run errands.
The Senior student of the Islamic college identified as Umar Goni, slit the throat of his victim identified as Jibrin Sadi Ramadan with razor during a brief encounter behind the hostel of the school on Wednesday night January 19.
Junior student Ramadan’s throat was slit for refusing to run an errand for the said senior student Umar and afterwards was found lying unconsciously in a pool of blood at the backyard of their hostel. He was rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Ramadan is said to be in a critical condition as a teacher at the college decried the attitude of some teachers towards the pupils, blaming it on the fact that most of the boarding students are from rich and influential backgrounds.
The teacher also disclosed that indiscipline is on the rise in the school due to “material gains that staff get from parents of students”.
Ramadan’s family have expressed displeasure with the way the school management is handling the matter. A family member added that the school only told them that the culprit is under police custody but refused to reveal much about his identity.
While another family member said the school management has convinced the child’s step father who is their close ally not to take the matter up.
The suspect is said to currently be at the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
