Nigerian Police Approves new but Optional Dress code for Women.

The Nigerian police [NPF] had on Friday March 4, 2022 approved a new, improved but optional dress code for women officers.

According to a statement signed by their spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the new dress code permits female officers to “wear stud earrings, and headscarf under their berets or peak caps as the case may be while fully kitted in uniform”.

The reason being that the Nigeria Police workforce is made up of officers from every local government in the country with diverse ethnicity and religious backgrounds, and an increased inclusion of female folks in recent times,.

Other countries that have adopted same dress code include Canada, the United States of America, Sweden, Turkey, Australia and the United Kingdom amongst others.

The dress code which is In line with the International best practices is optional and Senior Women Police Officers have already been tasked by the IGP to ensure compliance with the approved standard for women police officers who have opted to adopt the dress code.
