ASUU , SSANU, NASU Negotiation Committee are currently awaiting Response from Nigerian Government with regards to the 2009 agreement discussion bluebloodz.com has learned.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities [ ASUU] alongside the Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities,[SSANU] and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and allied institutions [NASU] have all disclosed that their various negotiation committees are yet to get any feedback message after discussing the 2009 agreements with the Federal Government’s own renegotiation committee.

The Federal Government renegotiation committee, dutifully chaired by Prof. Nimi Briggs – Pro-Chancellor of Alex Ekweme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, is as a matter of urgency expected to review the draft proposed 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement and renegotiate with all the striking university unions.

However , since April 2022, the Prof. Briggs renegotiation committee had been convening meetings with the various union body in the universities who are all currently on strike due to unmet demands of the 2009 agreements signed with the FG but no positive headway or tangible response.

Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke the National President of ASUU, in an interview with newsmen revealed that the Prof. Nimi Briggs led Committee told the unions they were waiting for the Federal Government to respond to the reports of the meeting they had so far.

‘‘Yes, we had a meeting with them last week and they have not called us again. All they told us was that they are waiting for their principal, that when their principal responds, they will get back to us,’’

Osodeke also added that no new invite for another meeting has been sent out since May 2021,

‘‘The same way they told us they were waiting for the FG in May 2021 and yet no result.’’

Moreso, Mr Ibrahim Mohammed, the national president, SSANU, whose union had a fresh meeting with the FG renegotiation Committee last week Friday said all that was done were appraisals and reviews, adding that the Prof. Briggs committee said they were patiently awaiting their ‘masters’ response.
