Abia State Polytechnic Loses Accreditation over non-payment of Staff salaries and Allowances for 30 months.

Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, has reportedly Lost its Accreditation over non-payment of Staff salaries and Allowances for a span of 30 months.

The NBTE – National Board for Technical Education made the announcement of the polytechnics accreditation withdrawal on Tuesday July 19, in a statement released by Fatima Abubakar Head of Media Department,  after various warnings the school management and the state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu did not pay attention to.

The Technical Education Board further revealed they had to withdraw the accreditation status of the institution to safeguard the quality assurance mechanism of the Board as well as to ensure that students were not left at the mercy of demoralized staff that might resort to ‘bribery and sorting’ practices to survive.

The board also notified the National Youth Service Corps to ensure “no graduate of the Abia State Polytechnic is mobilized for national service until the management of the polytechnic resolves the current issue on ground, with promises to notify the NYSC once the accreditation status of the polytechnic is restored.

Moreso, the notice of the accreditation withdrawal of the polytechnic has also been sent to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund and Industrial Training Fund in order to stop any official transaction with the polytechnic .

This development is coming months after bluebloodz.com reported that Abia state university teaching hospital has lost its accreditation over non-payment of salaries amongst other pending issues.
