FG begins Probe into the Activities of DHL, Meta, and Opay.

FG has begun looking into the activities of Meta [Facebook] ,haulage company, DHL, and online payment platform OPay for alleged data breaches. 

According to findings that there have been tons of complaints against the companies by Nigerians over the violation of data subjects’ rights.

It was learnt that NDPC [ Nigeria Data Protection Commission] has opened investigations case file into the data processing activities of the mentioned data controllers.

The complaints against Meta is based on the behavioural advertising without explicit consent of data subjects.


DHL on the other hand is under investigation for allegedly violating the lawful basis and principles of data protection.

While Opay might be summoned to answer for allegations that it maliciously opens bank accounts for data subjects without their consent.

The companies above , if found Guilty , would forfeit two percent 2% of their annual gross revenue to the government of Nigeria.
