Operatives from the EFCC on Thursday interrogated former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, regarding her purported involvement in the misappropriation, breach of procurement regulations, and redirection of public funds amounting to N138, 413, 253.89 (One Hundred and Eighty-Eight Million, Four Hundred and Thirteen Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty-Three Naira, Eight Kobo) tied to the distribution of the 2023 budgeted resources for the Ministry.
Sources reported that Kennedy-Ohanenye arrived at the Commission’s headquarters around 11:00 am on Thursday and has been answering questions from investigators concerning her alleged participation in the fraud.
EFCC’s inquiries revealed that contributions intended for the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative were misappropriated for her personal gain.
The investigation remains active. She has not yet been granted administrative bail.
