Sharon Chuter ” CEO Uoma Beauty ” Found Dead in L.A Home.

Tragically, Sharon Chuter, the CEO and visionary behind Uoma Beauty, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 38. Authorities reported that her remains were discovered on the patio of her Los Angeles residence on August 14.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has marked her cause of death as ‘deferred,’ indicating that her premature passing is currently under investigation.

Originally from Nigeria, Sharon Chuter established her beauty line in 2019, aiming to promote diversity and inclusivity within the beauty sphere.

In 2020, her beauty offerings became available at ULTA stores and garnered attention from high-profile celebrities including Skai Jackson , Jordyn Woods, Jasmine Sanders, and EJ Johnson (the son of Magic).

In response to the George Floyd protests in Minneapolis and nationwide, Chuter initiated the trending hashtag #pulluporshutup.

This hashtag was part of her ‘Pull Up for Change’ campaign, which called upon corporations to confront racism in America. Her initiative urged major companies like L’Oreal, ULTA, and Sephora to reveal the number of Black individuals employed in their organizations.

In May 2023, Chuter resigned as CEO and sold the company’s assets to MacArthur Beauty LLC. In February 2025, she filed a lawsuit against MacArthur Beauty LLC and BrainTrust, alleging that they had undervalued the brand’s assets in 2023.

Chuter contended in her lawsuit that the sale, intended to satisfy a $6.2 million loan, was ‘commercially unreasonable’ and substantially lower than Uoma’s previous estimate of up to $50 million.

Supporters of Chuter suggest that her death may be connected to the ongoing lawsuit.
