Nollywood Veteran Rita Daniels To Run For AGN Presidency.

Nigerian actress Rita Daniels Chukwuji has disclosed her intention to run for the presidency of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

Rita, mother to Nollywood sensation Regina Daniels, will compete against Abubakar Yakubu, the incumbent national secretary of the guild, in the bid to replace Emeka Rollas, who has held the position since 2017 and will conclude his term in December 2025.

On Thursday, Rita unveiled her manifesto via the guild’s official Instagram account, promising a leadership approach that will safeguard, cherish, and empower the guild’s members.

With nearly two decades of experience in Nollywood, she has appeared in numerous films and taken on the role of mentor to aspiring actors.

Yakubu, who has served as the AGN national secretary for the past six years, had previously announced his candidacy in February.

He has committed to prioritizing members’ welfare, improving salaries, and enhancing working conditions while fostering growth opportunities within the creative sector.

A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Yakubu has established himself as an actor and producer with a portfolio that includes theater, films, and television series.

The National Electoral Committee has been formed to oversee the election scheduled for December 6.
