Nollywood star and politician, Tonto Dikeh, has disclosed that the detrimental impact of her closest companions was the primary reason her music career did not succeed.Tonto shared this information on Friday while singing ‘God is Good’ by Don Moen on her Instagram account.
The 40-year-old actress reflected on her short-lived adventure in the music scene, which commenced in 2013 with hits like ‘Hi’, ‘Crazically Fit’, and ‘Jeje’, alongside collaborations with renowned artists such as Solid Star and Terry G.
Tonto expressed that her lack of success in music serves as a reminder of a period when negative influences were prevalent in her life, encouraging her followers to be selective in their friendships.
She lamented that her vocal talent did not align with the ambition her friends encouraged in her, humorously suggesting that with the right skill set, she would have outshined stars like Tiwa Savage, CeCe Winans, or Whitney Houston.
She remarked, “If I could sing, you all would be tired of me….“Like you don’t even get it, Likkeeeeeeeeeeee who is Tiwa? Who is Whitney, who is CeCe Winans? Taaaaahhhhhhh.“
Watching this video takes me back to a time when I was surrounded by the worst kinds of friends who pushed me to put out an album.“Look sneeze/sniper and others, your space is already reserved in hell. The moral of this story is to choose your friends wisely; more importantly, be wise.”
