Nollywood star Regina Daniels has openly called on Nigerians to refrain from disrespecting her mother, Rita Daniels, during her current marital issues with her wealthy husband and politician, Senator Ned Nwoko.
In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram on Wednesday, the actress tackled numerous misunderstandings regarding her marriage, including assertions that she wed out of avarice or was coerced by her mother.
“My Mother Is the Most Wonderful Thing That Has Ever Happened to Me”Regina commenced by defending her mother, whom she referred to as her primary source of strength and encouragement.She conveyed her discontent with the ongoing disparagement directed at Rita Daniels by the public.”
The primary purpose of this video is to kindly ask that you cease insulting my mother. She is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. She is my deity on earth. She has remained resilient for seven years. My mom held it together. She made an effort. You all insulted her, yet she persevered,” she expressed.
The actress highlighted that her choice to marry Ned Nwoko was solely hers, and that her family had initially advised her against it.In response to speculation that her marriage to the senator was financially driven, Regina clarified that her family was not in need when she made her decision to marry him.” Please stop alleging that I married out of greed. Excuse me, absolutely not. We were not in financial distress. What wealth can a man bring to a mother to secure her child who essentially provides for everything at home?” she inquired.
Regina mentioned that her mother had devoted herself to raising her and her siblings, stating that she felt an obligation to ensure her mother’s happiness due to all that she had given up for them.In an unexpected revelation, the actress shared that the pressures surrounding her choice to wed Ned Nwoko had driven her to contemplate suicide.”I was on the verge of taking my own life if I didn’t marry Ned. Everyone was searching for me. My brothers were fighting, shattering bottles. I went to the police station and said, ‘Detain me. My family opposes me marrying the love of my life,’” she recounted. Despite the resistance from her family, Regina stated she proceeded with the marriage because of her genuine love for Ned.
Regina Daniels clarified that, even amidst the current turmoil in their marriage, she still holds her estranged husband in high esteem for the sake of their children, Munir and Khalifa.”I genuinely fell in love. And I still care for and honor him. That’s what love is—care and respect. The sole reason I’m not confronting you, Ned, is that I want the name of Munir and Khalifa’s father to remain strong,” she declared.
