A Nigerian woman has caused a lot of discussion online after sharing her opinion that a man’s financial success can be seen through the way his partner looks and lives. She shared this during an episode of the Honest Bunch podcast.
The woman sparked a debate by saying that a man who is doing well financially naturally takes care of his partner, making sure she looks good and reflects his wealth.She also mentioned that in some Igbo communities, men often dress simply and may not look rich.
But she added that people often look at the wife to judge the man’s financial situation, as her appearance usually shows the family’s wealth.
She said,
“A man’s money should be reflected in his woman. It shows you’re doing well.In Igbo land, you’ll see a man wearing a short nicker and looking messy, but if you want to know he’s rich, look at his wife.”
Some people disagreed with her view, calling it shallow and old-fashioned. They said that wealth shouldn’t be judged by looks, and that both men and women should be free to dress and live however they want without being judged.
