At 64, the screen icon shared candid details about her relationship with her husband, veteran actor Olu Jacobs, who is 20 years her senior.


How Joke Silva and Olu Jacobs Met

According to Silva, their first meeting happened on stage before they later reconnected on a movie set. She admitted that while many people were excited about meeting the legendary Olu Jacobs, she initially did not share the same reaction.

“Yes, we met on stage, and when we met on a movie set, everybody knew it was the great Olu Jacobs who was coming — except me,” she explained.

She added that they got along very well, and it was only after they began dating that she discovered his real age.

Interestingly, Silva revealed that while it was love at first sight for Jacobs, it was not the same for her.

The Advantage of Marrying Older Men, According to Joke Silva

During the interview, the Nollywood star stated:

“This older men allows you to get away with a lot of things.”

Her statement has since sparked conversations about age-gap relationships, particularly within celebrity marriages in Nigeria.

Silva and Jacobs tied the knot in 1985. At the time, Jacobs was 44 years old, while Silva was 24. Their marriage has lasted over four decades and is blessed with two children, making them one of Nollywood’s most admired couples.
