ASUU National Executive Council has after its scheduled meeting on the 29 August at the Union’s headquarters in aAbuja , has reportedly extended the ongoing strike again
The ASUU strike which kicked off on February 14, 2022, and meant to initially last for 4 weeks, took a new turn as on March 14, exactly a month after, the Union extended the already ongoing industrial action by another 2 months to give the government more time to address and meet all of its demands.
The union is on strike over the inability of the Federal Government to implement previous agreements both parties entered into.
The lecturers’ agitations include funding for the revitalization of public universities, earned academic allowances, University Transparency Accountability Solution, promotion arrears and others.
The strike has now entered its 196th day.
