The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN have issued polite warning to the Nigerian government over its move to arrest and prosecute prominent men of God and other Nigerians who are still using Twitter despite the ban in the country .
CAN in a reaction to Lai Mohammed’s comment, through it’s Special Assistant on Media to the President of the association, Adebayo Oladeji, said
“We caution the Federal Government against carrying out its threats against those highly respected leaders.
According to CAN, the actions of the men of God were totally justified since they run churches with global outlook and they made it clear in their position. If they (government) carry out the threat, it will only compound problems in the country.
He also added that – any government policy that cancels out the fundamental rights of the citizens is not welcomed. The association urged the government to rise up to the issue of insecurity confronting the country without harassing the innocent and elder statesmen.”
