Casemiro Brazil midfielder and Manchester United latest addition has made known the reason behind his exit from Real Madrid to Manchester United.
According to the Brazil midfielder, it is not about the money, he’s excited joining “the biggest club in England” and is looking forward to linking up again with Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a ceremony held on Monday and we’ll attended by his family, club executives, coaching staff and teammates, his former club Madrid paid tribute to him for helping them win five Champions League trophies in nine years during his stay at the club.
Casemiro during a news conference said:
“It’s always difficult when you take such an important decision,” After the Champions League final [against Liverpool on May 28] I spoke to my agent, I said I felt like my time here was ending… My agent told me to go away on holiday. After a month, we came back and I still felt like that.”
My cycle was over. I wanted to live a new challenge, try a different league and a different culture. I haven’t won anything [in England]. I want to help there as I helped here. I’m going full of hope.
When asked if the bumper contract offered to him played a role in his decision to join United, Casemiro replied: “It’s only a few people who think that, but people are wrong if they believe that and they don’t know me. That’s the last thing they should think.
“I am joining the biggest club in England.”
Casemiro also confessed that he relishes the chance to link up with former Real teammate Cristiano Ronaldo again.
“I can’t wait to play with Cristiano again,” he admitted. “I hope Cristiano stays, I want to play with him again. He’s incredible.”
Manchester United is to pay an initial £60 million fee with £10m in potential add-ons.
