Former aide to the President, Reno Omokri, has cautioned men against paying the bride price for a woman who is no longer a virgin.
He expressed this opinion in a recent update on his social media account.
Reno Omokri contended that it’s unfair for a man to cover the bride price for a woman whose virginity was compromised by another man. His message states:
“It is unjust if a woman permits a man, who isn’t her spouse, to take her virginity without charge, only for her family to ask for a bride price from the man seeking to wed her. Consider this carefully. What are you actually paying for? The woman is not an asset that you are purchasing. No. Otherwise, it would be termed ‘Woman price’. What you compensate for is a bride. And in order for one to be a bride, she must maintain her purity.
Many fail to recognize that if a man has relations with a woman, he has effectively married her. Doubt my assertion? Then read this passage from Scripture:
“Then Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother and took Rebekah, and she became his wife.” – Genesis 24:67.
Isaac and Rebekah did not have a wedding ceremony. The essence of marriage transpired when Isaac brought Rebekah into his mother’s tent and “took” her.
What do you believe ” took” her signifies?
I am unfazed by insults. My purpose on this Earth is to meet God’s expectations, not yours.

I must alert our community that we face a significant issue as Black people. Please verify my claim: Black people are the sole race with communities where there are more abortions than live births.
If virginity were insignificant, why did God select Mary? The answer is straightforward: Her virginity. As a society, we ought to honor virginity over promiscuity. A substantial portion of Black Africa’s problems, from elevated HIV/AIDS rates to overpopulation, could be alleviated if we reverted to our cultural principles of allowing sexual relations exclusively within marriage.
