Dr. John Sampson a Miami doctor has been reportedly banned from performing Brazilian butt lift (BBL) buttocks enhancement surgeries after a patient died on the operating table.
According to the Miami Herald, a 33-year-old female patient was said to have died after Dr. John Sampson performed BBL surgery on her on June 16, 2021. Autopsy report obtained showed Dr. Sampson had in error punctured the woman’s liver and intestines during the procedure.
The Florida Board of Medicine banned Sampson from performing the BBL procedure again. He was also fined $20,000 and $5,626 for the board’s investigation and prosecution costs, and was instructed to study 5 hours of continuing education in medical records keeping, a one-hour lecture on liposuction and gluteal fat grafting surgeries.
Also, he was stripped of his privilege to be the head physician at any private or public medical office or surgery center.
The Brazilian Butt Lift [also known as BBL] is a procedure that involves the gluteal transfer of fat and liposuction surgery that gives women unnaturally exaggerated buttocks and hips.
Findings and statistics reveal that women who undergo BBL surgeries naturally have low self-esteem and body image disturbance [ dysmorphic ] issues.
