Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju criticized controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi on Sunday for his comments about the US airstrikes in Sokoto State.
Adeyanju said Gumi shouldn’t be sad if the US airstrikes didn’t kill any ISIS terrorists in Sokoto. On Christmas Day, President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes against ISIS in Sokoto. It’s thought that the mission didn’t work because there’s no report of terrorist deaths.
As the situation became more controversial, Gumi kept talking badly about the mission in his comments. But Adeyanju posted on X: “
If the Trump airstrikes against Nigerian ISIS didn’t kill any terrorist, why is Gumi crying? Shouldn’t he be happy that all his colleagues are still alive?”
He also added:
“Why the tears? We need more teamwork between the US and Nigeria to fight these terrorists terrorizing our country.”
