INEC chairman Yakubu Mahmoud, has cried out over the 45 percent increase in Invalid new voter registrations
According to Chairman Yakubu during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, April 13.
Nigeria is now in the 4th quarter of the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) which was kick started again on June 28, 2021, after it was suspended for the 2019 general election.
Yakubu said while the growing number of new registrants is highly impressive, it still remains the sole duty of the commission to clean up the data to make sure only eligible Nigerians are registered.
The INEC chairman thus cited multiple registration and incomplete data provision as the reasons for the 45% increase in invalid voter registrations.
