The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that over 1.5 million individuals who participated in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scored under 200.
Of the 1,955,069 individuals who took the test, merely 420,415 attained scores of 200 or greater, which equates to roughly 21% of all examinees. JAMB further highlighted that less than 1% of participants were capable of achieving scores above 300.

These statistics, shared on Monday, reveal a concerning pattern, with around 75% of participants failing to meet the 200-point threshold — a score commonly utilized by Nigerian higher education institutions as a benchmark for admission.
