Joint Tax Board Approves New Rate For Issuance of Drivers Licence.

The Joint Tax  Board (JTB) has supported new rates for the issuance of public driver’s licenses and vehicle number plates, set to produce results from November 1, 2024.

The changed rates plan to upgrade the quality and security highlights of these ID reports, in accordance with worldwide norms.

Under the new estimating structure, Nigerians will presently pay N15,000 for a three-year engine vehicle driver’s permit, while a five-year permit will cost N21,000. Bike and tricycle drivers will confront an increment too, with a three-year permit evaluated at N7,000 and a five-year permit at N11,000.

For vehicle number plates, the new rates start at N30,000 for both standard private and business vehicle plates. Extravagant number plates will cost N400,000, while cruiser plates are valued at N12,000. Vendor vehicle number plates will be given for N100,000.

The Joint Tax Board has additionally changed costs for official number plates. Government extravagant vehicle plates will currently cost N120,000, and standard plates will be N80,000. Cruiser number plates for government vehicles are set at N50,000 for extravagant choices and N20,000 for standard.

Olusegun Adesokan, Secretary of the JTB, stressed the significance of public mindfulness and schooling with respect to the new rates.
