Kanye West once told Kim Kardashian that she had made up her scary 2016 Paris robbery, as shared in a new episode of The Kardashians. For Kim, who has talked about how terrifying that night was—when masked thieves held her at gunpoint and stole millions in jewelry—the accusation was really hurtful. She has always described the robbery as, in her own words, “seven or eight minutes of torture.”
In a 2020 interview with David Letterman, she remembered being tied up with zip ties, duct tape, and handcuffs, then thrown into a bathtub while the men searched her hotel room. Her engagement ring was among the things they took. In the latest episode of her Hulu show, Kim shared that during their marriage, Kanye had made that accusation in front of others.
“I had said, ‘And you faked your robbery for a TV show,’ and he said that in front of all these people,” she said. “That was like a knife to my heart.”She added, “It really hurt to think that someone you’re so close to, who knows you so well, wouldn’t believe you. It really bothered me,” she said while crying. “You don’t know who I am.”
At the time of the robbery, Kanye was on tour in the U.S. and suddenly stopped a New York City show when he heard about what was called a family emergency. The couple, who married in 2014, eventually divorced in early 2021.
In May, she spent six hours testifying in a Paris courtroom and finally got justice.”I’m happy it’s over,” she said in her confessional. “To finally go to trial and face these people and hear their accounts and apologies, I’m like, ‘See, guys, it was real.'”
