American hip-hop star and billionaire Kanye West, also known as Ye, has stirred up conversation on social media by disclosing that he was approached with a $2 million offer to endorse a cryptocurrency scam.
The artist recently garnered attention for halting traffic during his wife’s photoshoot, and detailed that the scam involved sharing a false advertisement and subsequently alleging his account had been compromised.
As per Kanye West, the scheme would have required him to promote deceit to his millions of followers, before asserting his account had been hacked. At that point, individuals who were duped might have suffered financial loss.
“I was offered 2 million dollars to deceive my community. Those who remain. I declined and ceased communication with the individual who made the proposal,” Kanye West stated in a widely circulated tweet on Friday, February 7.

To back his claim, the rapper shared a screenshot outlining the strategy for endorsing a “fake ye currency.”
The strategy detailed that West would receive $750,000 upfront to promote the cryptocurrency for 8 hours. Following that period, he could assert that his account had been hacked and that he never published the post.
This would be followed by a $1.25 million payment 16 hours later.
The alarming disclosure by Kanye West incited a frenzy online, even stirring discussions within the Nigerian social media sphere. Countless Nigerians seized the moment to inundate Davido’s social media profiles, drawing parallels between the collapse of the $Davido cryptocurrency he once endorsed.
Numerous individuals pointed out that the proposal presented to Kanye mirrored the way Davido deceived his followers.
