Kenya has unveiled a new framework permitting individuals from nearly all African nations to travel without prior consent, as reported by a cabinet directive from the BBC.
A cabinet announcement verified that the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirement will be removed for all African countries except Somalia and Libya, owing to security issues.
Under the revised policy, nationals from most African countries will be granted entry into Kenya and allowed to stay without a visa for up to two months.
For members of the East African Community (EAC)—which includes Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi—the policy will permit an extended stay of six months, in accordance with the bloc’s guidelines.
While a precise timeline for rollout has yet to be established, Kenya intends to implement a streamlined procedure that will facilitate immediate travel approval, with a maximum processing duration of 72 hours.
