Mbuso Mandela the Grandson of Ex-president Nelson Mandela was reportedly arrested with four other persons during a raid at a Houghton property.
The police is said to have recovered vehicles that were stolen and also some drug related Equipment during the raid.
The residence once held by former president Nelson Mandela in Houghton, Johannesburg, where his grandson Mbuso was taken into custody alongside four alleged hijackers on Wednesday, is not leased.
Mbuso’s older sibling Ndaba stated that the property has been neglected by his younger brother, who has resided there for several years.
Mbuso is slated to appear at the Johannesburg magistrate’s court on Friday alongside the four other individuals taken into custody with him.
As per Johannesburg metro police (JMPD) spokesperson Xolani Fihla, the apprehensions came after a tip-off from a vehicle tracking firm concerning the location of a white Toyota Corolla that was hijacked on Louis Botha Avenue in Oaklands.
Fihla indicated that JMPD officers managed to recover the stolen vehicle and arrest four men and one woman, while a subsequent search of the location yielded one unlicensed firearm.Initial details pointed to the “female resident who is leasing the property and is familiar with the four male suspects.
Moreso, according to a publication on the Guardian as seen above, Mbuso Mandela has always been in the news for one crime or another. 9 years ago, at age 24, Master Mbuso was charged to court for raping a 15-year-old girl at a bar in Johannesburg.
