The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called upon all Muslims to commence the quest for the new moon of Ramadan 1446AH on Friday and to report any sightings to the nearest District or Village Chief for further communication.
A statement released in Sokoto on Thursday, February 27, by the Chairman of the Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, announced:
“This serves to notify the Muslim community that Friday, 28th February 2025, corresponding to the 29th day of Sha’aban 1446AH, will be the designated day to search for the new moon of Ramadan 1446AH.”
The declaration also contained prayers for Allah’s guidance in assisting Muslims to peacefully and successfully fulfill the sacred obligation of fasting during Ramadan.
