The National Pension Commission has revealed a new initiative dubbed Revolution 2.0 aimed at enhancing the compensation (dignity) of retirees and pensioners while broadening pension services to encompass all Nigerians, including those in the informal sector.
This information was shared on Monday via a statement from PenCom’s Director General, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran. She emphasized that the initiative seeks to ensure dignity for retirees through health insurance and a baseline pension, while maximizing investment performance and protecting contributors’ funds to achieve sustainable long-term returns.
Pension Revolution 2.0 represents the most substantial leap since 2004; it is ambitious yet incremental in execution. It marks the dawn of a new phase of dignity for retirees, inclusion for every Nigerian employee, and strength for our national economy,” she stated.
This announcement follows PenCom’s recent release of the Updated Guidelines on Board and Senior Management Appointments as well as the Revised Guidelines on Corporate Governance.
