NCC – Nigerian Communication Commission has released harmonised shortcodes which would allow users of any mobile network in the country to recharge, check account balances and carry out other services.
The codes include;
- Harmonized code for Call Centre/Help Desk on all mobile networks; 300
- Voice Mail Deposit; 301
- Voice Mail Retrieval; 302
- Borrow Services; 303
- STOP Service; 305
- Check Balance; 310
- Credit Recharge; 311
Other Codes are ;
- Data Plan : 312
- Share Services: 321
- Data Plan Balance : 323
- Verification of Subscriber Identity Module Registration/NIN-SIM Linkage : 996
Meanwhile, Code 2442 was retained for Do-Not-Disturb unsolicited messaging complaint management, while the common code, 3232, is also retained for Porting Services, otherwise called Mobile Number Portability.
The NCC has directed the mobile network operators to commence the implementation of the approved harmonised codes with May 17, 2023, being the deadline.
NCC Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka, said the new policy is in line with its consumer-centric approach to telecom regulation.
