NIGERIAN residents in Italy are in disagreement with the consular office in Rome over their inability to get their passports renewed due to shortage of booklets.
National Union of Nigeria Association in Italy stated this in an appeal letter to the leadership of the National Assembly and the Controller General Nigerian Immigration Services made available to journalists in Benin, Edo State.
The letter was signed by the National President of the body, Mr Samson Iriakannu, and secretary, Deacon Nosa Osawaru.
Iriakannu, however, disclosed that the umbrella body was not relenting on its desire to ensure that the challenges were resolved.
The letter read in part,
“The official record of Nigerians seeking greener pastures in Italy is over 180, 000 with a sizable number of professionals and their contributions to the economic growth of Italy and Nigeria can’t be overemphasised.
