Boma Akpore, a Nigerian actor who was a housemate on Big Brother Naija, said that he started a podcast to control how his story is told.
In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the actor explained,
I started my podcasts because the media is strong; they determine the narrative. So I want to be able to control my narrative. Sometimes, people just say whatever they want to say and throw someone under the bus. I want to control the narrative.”
Boma also thanked Nollywood for its extraordinary expansion and praised the industry’s perseverance.
“I am grateful for the growth of Nollywood. I am grateful for the stories. We are very resilient; no matter what has been done to pull us down, we refuse to go under. We are always fighting to stay afloat.” Speaking on his evolution in the entertainment industry beyond reality TV fame, he noted: “I am grateful for how I have been able to reinvent myself.
The Unbox Review Show and the Unbox Review Show Special are my two podcasts. My fans should keep supporting and believing in me.” Reflecting on his experience with the media, he added, “I have learnt that not everything in the media is true, and not everything true is in the media.”
