NTA : President Tinubu Anulls Recent Appointment

President Bola Tinubu has annulled the recent appointments he made at the Nigeria Television Authority, [NTA] the country’s leading television network.

The president instructed the management team he previously dismissed to resume their roles at the state-owned broadcaster, which operates across Nigeria.

Reports have surfaced regarding the president’s contentious appointment of a new Director General to succeed Salihu Dembos, who he appointed in October 2023.

Additionally, the president terminated the position of Ayo Adewuyi, the Executive Director of News, whom he appointed in 2024.

Nevertheless, in a statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, the president reinstated both individuals.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the reinstatement of Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who briefly left the role following recent management changes within the agency,” Mr. Onanuga stated.

The new directive effectively nullifies the earlier announced appointments of a director-general, executive director of news, executive director of marketing, and managing director of NTA Enterprises,” he added.

Dembos was appointed DG of the TV network by President Tinubu in October 2023. He will now return to fulfill his three-year term.

The President also directed the reinstatement of Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, the Executive Director of News, to fulfill his three-year term, which concludes in 2027.

Adewuyi was appointed by President Tinubu in 2024.

The new directive effectively nullifies the earlier announced appointments of a director-general, executive director of news, executive director of marketing, and managing director of NTA Enterprises.
