The much awaited Ramadan fasting kicks off today Tuesday april 13 as -The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, officially confirmed the sighting of the moon which signals the beginning of Ramadan fast.
In a live broadcast on Monday evening April 11, the Sultan had earlier admonished Muslim faithfuls to ensure strict compliance to the COVID19 protocols during the fasting period.
The Ramadan month is that in which Muslim Faithfuls around the world observe fasting for 29 or 30 days. It is observed during the holy month.
Fasting during the holy month is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a time for reflection, contemplation, and celebration
During the month, Muslim faithful are expected to stay away from eating, drinking, and any form of sexual relationship from dawn till dusk.
Fasting in Ramadan is a must for all adult Muslims, with exception to individuals who are – sick, travelling, women observing the menstrual cycle, pregnant women, or aged.
