Sean “Diddy” Combs Launches New Rhythm and Blues Label With Motown

Sean “Diddy” Combs is widening the music label horizon once again as he on Tuesday, announced the launch of a new R&B label called Love Records via a deal with Motown Records.

According to findings, The new label “will be solely dedicated to R&B music and will release singles and collaborative projects from a collective of world-class artists, producers and songwriters,”. It was also said that Diddy will be making a return to music as he plans to drop a new album himself, which will be Love Records’ first project. It is set to be released this summer.

Speaking about the exciting news in a statement, Diddy said, “Music has always been my first love, Love Records is the next chapter is about getting back to the love and making the best music of my life. For the label I’m focused on creating timeless R&B music with the next generation of artists and producers. Motown is the perfect partner for my album and I’m excited to add to its legacy.”

Ethiopia Habtemariam, Motown CEO and chairwoman also said in a statement, “This is a major moment for Motown, as Diddy is one of this century’s most important voices in music and culture; To be a part of his next evolution and album is nothing short of monumental.”

Diddy first talked about starting a new label back in August as he covered Vanity Fair‘s September 2021 issue. He explained why he felt it was important to create one that focuses on R&B.

“Yeah, all R&B label, because I feel like R&B was abandoned and it’s a part of our African American culture,” he told the magazine. “And I’m not signing any artists. Because if you know better, you do better. I’m doing 50–50 partnerships with pure transparency. That’s the thing. [The new label is so that] we can own the genre; we don’t own hip-hop right now. We have a chance to—and I’m going to make sure that—we own R&B.”

Despite the new record label, Diddy will still continue to oversee his previous Label.
