Popular Nigerian actor Imeh Bishop Umoh, who is widely known as Okon Lagos, has written an open letter to President Bola Tinubu, asking him to take legal action against Sheikh Gumi on terrorism-related charges.
Sheikh Ahmed Gumi is an Islamic religious leader from northern Nigeria who has been known to talk to terrorists in their hiding places and also support them.
With more bandit attacks happening in the country, actor Imeh Bishop Umoh, known as Okon Lagos, has called for Sheikh Gumi to be charged with terrorism.
On Instagram, he wrote:
“Sheikh Gumi is someone who defends banditry. It’s clear to everyone, even those who are blind or deaf, that there is a major lack of courage to arrest, investigate, and then charge and convict Sheikh Gumi if he is found guilty of terrorism.
According to El-Rufai, the only way a terrorist can truly repent is by being dead, and I agree completely. Take them all down! Save Nigeria!No responsible government should talk to terrorists!”
He continued:
“There might be political pressure from some powerful people, but at this point, does it really matter? Let those powerful people be challenged. Let people be held accountable. That’s not too much to ask for our roads and farmlands to be safe again, for our communities to be livable, and for our churches and places of worship to be safe like they were before. Our country is almost destroyed. Let’s save what’s left of this broken place and bring it back to its former glory. Mr. President, I know you can do this. I hope you will.”
