Pharmacists, represented by the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), have called on the federal government to enforce a complete prohibition on the manufacture and sale of sachet alcohol.
ACPN emphasized that this action is essential to protect public health.Pharmacist Ambrose Ezeh, the National Chairman of ACPN, expressed this viewpoint in a statement shared on Monday.
Ezeh criticized the alleged move by the Federal Government to lift the ban on the production and retail sale of alcoholic drinks in sachets and small-sized containers under 200ml.

He stated that the initial directive given by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) was firmly based on evidence-driven harm-reduction strategies and objectives for child protection.
He remarked, “The ban on sachet alcohol should not be regarded as merely a symbolic regulatory measure.”
