“Throughout his military tenure, his legacy of dedication will be forever honored,” Tinubu remarked. “As a lasting emblem of our gratitude, I have bestowed upon the late Chief of Army Staff the posthumous national distinction of Commander of the Federal Republic.”

Tinubu emphasized that General Lagbaja was one of his finest appointments and praised his steadfast belief in the military forces.

“While we grieve his loss, we also celebrate his life. We must reaffirm our commitment to the values and love for the country for which he fought. For his bravery, sacrifice, and leadership, General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja will eternally occupy a place among military legends,” the president further stated.
