Top Reasons Neymar Agrees With Ronaldo on Saudi Football

Brazilian icon Neymar has endorsed Cristiano Ronaldo’s earlier remarks about the Saudi Pro League (SPL) being more competitive than France’s Ligue 1.

Ronaldo made these comments at the Globe Soccer Awards in December, provoking extensive discussions.

Neymar, who signed with Al Hilal in 2023, has now affirmed Ronaldo’s assertion that the Saudi Pro League (SPL) surpasses France’s Ligue 1 in competitiveness.

While speaking to CNN Sports, Neymar concurred with Ronaldo’s statements, referencing his own experiences since joining Al Hilal in 2023.

“I align with Cristiano. Currently, I believe the Saudi League is superior to Ligue 1… The standard of the Saudi Pro League is on the rise, and from my observations, it outshines Ligue 1. Ligue 1 has its merits—it’s a formidable league, and I am well aware of this, having played there. But at this point, the players in the Saudi Pro League are of a higher caliber,” Neymar remarked.

During his tenure in France, Neymar participated in 173 matches, netting 118 goals and providing 77 assists. He also contributed to PSG’s acquisition of 14 trophies, establishing himself as one of the league’s premier players.

Neymar departed the French club after Paris Saint-Germain conveyed to him that he was not included in the plans of new manager Luis Enrique.
