WAEC – West African Examination Council has expressed displeasure over the late registration of eligible candidates by private schools for WASSCE .
According to the WAEC chief such an act is totally unacceptable as it delays preparations for the examination.
Meanwhile, Over 1.6million candidates from 20,221 schools have registered for the examination out of which 800,055 (49.76%) are males while 800,724 representing 50.24 percent (%) are females.
The candidates are expected to be examined in 76 subjects, made up of 197 papers while about 30,000 practicing senior teachers, nominated by various Ministries of Education across the States of the federation , would be participating in the examination as supervisors.
The WAEC chief also added that Though the National Identification Number (NIN) was made a component of the registration process; it was not a compulsory requirement so as not to prevent majority of the candidates from registering.
More so, Parents and guardians have been urged to advice their wards to study hard and cancel from their heart any form of examination malpractice. The examination body also issued stern warning to supervisors to desist from masterminding examination malpractice by assisting candidates, especially by allowing them to enter the Examination Hall with their smart phones and wrist watches for use.
