Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James joined fellow Democrats in leaving X (previously known as Twitter) following Kamala Harris’s election defeat.
LeBron declared his departure from social media in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
“So, with that being said, I’ll catch you all later! Stepping away from social media for a while. Take care, everyone!” he tweeted on Wednesday morning.
Before exiting X, LeBron James posted a screenshot from Rich Kleiman that stated:
“In a world rife with hate and negativity today, it’s baffling to me why some national sports media still believe the optimal way to report on sports is through cynical perspectives. We can all acknowledge that sports serve as the last bastion uniting society. So why can’t the coverage reflect that? It’s merely clickbait when you frame it that way. Given the platform’s enormity, one can effect change and create an escape from real-life negativity. Personally, I find it a complete waste of effort. The Olympics and JJ and Bron show embody the potential of what this can and should be.”
Other stars who have migrated from X to the Bluesky social media platform include Gabrielle Union, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Don Lemon. Bluesky reported that it has surpassed 20 million users.
Some fans expressed satisfaction at LeBron’s exit.
