The Delta State Police Command has confiscated a total of twenty-five automobiles while enforcing regulations regarding Tinted Glass Permit.
This action follows a directive from the Federal High Court located in Warri, Delta State, on Friday, October 3, which instructed the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector-General of Police to halt the enforcement of tinted glass permits for vehicle owners.
The court mandated the police and the IGP to uphold the current state of affairs and to “honor judicial processes until further developments arise in the case.”
Back in April, the Nigeria Police Force announced the revivalof the issuance of tinted glass permits across the country through the Police Specialised Services Automation Project, after putting the scheme on hold in 2022.
Inspector- General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun originally set a deadline of August 12 for vehicle owners to acquire the permits but subsequently extended it to October 2.
The Police justified the regulation as legal, referencing the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act of 1991 and emphasizing national security issues.
In a statement released on Friday, October 3, via its X account, @DeltaPoliceNG remarked, “Enforcement of tint permits. Twenty-five vehicles have been seized for operating a tinted vehicle without a valid tinted permit in Asaba.”
