Social commentator Vincent Martins Otse, also referred to as Verydarkman (VDM), has shared his perspective on the divorce scenario involving musician Innocent Idibia, commonly known as 2Baba, and his spouse Annie Idibia.
VDM posits that 2Baba may be jesting with the public regarding his divorce, akin to his earlier deception about some funds disappearing from his NGO a few weeks back.
As per VDM, 2Baba declared his intention to divorce his wife during the airing of season two of Young, Famous, and African, where his spouse is a participant. The media figure remarked that this choice is unforeseen and could cause distress to presenter Toke Makinwa when she becomes aware of it. He also insinuated that she might be part of the scheme.
On the evening of January 26, 2025, 2Baba ignited discussions online by disclosing that he and Annie had parted ways and that he was initiating divorce proceedings. This revelation triggered a significant response on social media. Shortly thereafter, he tweeted again, asserting that his Instagram account had been compromised.
The artist behind “African Queen” clarified that his account was not breached and declared, “he stated what he stated.” This indicates he is sincerely contemplating a divorce from Annie.
Numerous fans and celebrities were displeased with 2Baba’s announcement. They reproached him for the manner in which he conveyed the news of his separation from Annie. It’s important to highlight that Annie has been subject to a wave of criticism from fans due to her appearance on the show Young, Famous, and African.
Many have condemned the mother of two, asserting that her existence revolves around 2Baba. However, a plethora of Nigerians believe that the timing of 2Baba’s declaration was inappropriate for Annie.
They also wished he would have kept the matter confidential to protect his wife from online backlash. Celebrities, including Toke Makinwa, have rallied in support of Annie, stating that numerous women will band together to back her following 2Baba’s astonishing announcement.
Actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku emphasized that nothing should transpire to Annie. Should anything happen, 2Baba would be held accountable by many Nigerian women.
